What is fire stopping?
Buildings are designed as a series of fire compartments. Every service that passes through a compartment wall or floor — pipes, cables, ducts, dampers — punches a hole in that protection. Fire stopping seals those breaches so fire and smoke are held where they start, protecting escape routes, people and property.
Done badly or left unsealed, a single penetration can undo an entire fire strategy. That is why the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order and Approved Document B treat compartmentation as fundamental — and why we believe it deserves certified installers, not a mastic gun and good intentions.
A compartment is only as strong as its weakest seal.
All four Q-Mark 05B groups
Arctic Fire Limited is certified across the full scope of the BM TRADA Q-Mark Fire Stopping Installation scheme — not a partial ticket.
Penetration Seals
Pipes, cables, trays and services sealed where they pass through walls and floors.
Linear Joint Seals
Movement and construction joints between compartment elements, sealed to their tested detail.
Cavity Barriers
Concealed voids — ceilings, floors, rainscreen zones — closed against hidden fire spread.
Air Transfer Grilles
Intumescent grilles that ventilate in normal service and seal automatically in fire.
New-build fire stopping
Working alongside main contractors and M&E trades to seal as services land — installed to the tested system detail, photographed, QR-tagged and handed over as a complete evidence pack for building control and the golden thread.
Remedial & retrofit
Survey-led remediation of historic breaches in live, occupied and heritage buildings — prioritised by risk, delivered with minimal disruption, and recorded seal by seal in a register your fire risk assessor can rely on.

Failed fire door or open penetration found?
An inspection has flagged a door that will not close, a missing seal, or a hole through a compartment wall — or you have a handover deadline. Call and say it is urgent: same-week attendance where we can, with photographs of the problem letting us arrive with the right components first time.
Compartmentation you can evidence.
Led by Approved Person David Nemes under BM TRADA Q-Mark scheme 05B, certificate 4515 — every seal installed to a tested detail and recorded in your register.
